Cherry Top Cake

 

1-box butter yellow cake mix

1 stick butter, softened

1 egg

¼ tspn baking soda

 

Topping

1 8-oz cream cheese

1 8-oz dairy whip thawed

1 cup powdered sugar

2 20-oz cans cherry pie filling

 

Mix cake mix, baking soda, butter and egg in mixer until crumbly. Press into greased 9x13 cake pan. Bake in 350 oven for 15-18 minutes until golden. Cake will rise, but fall when removed from oven. Cool completely. Mix cream cheese, dairy whip and powdered sugar in mixer; spread over cool cake. Spread cherry pie filling over top. Cover and refrigerate. Cut in squares to serve.    July 2005
