All-purpose salad dressing
1 cup oil, preferably
olive oil
¼ cup vinegar
1½ teaspoons salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground pepper
½ teaspoon sugar
Combine
ingredients in a jar; shake to dissolve sugar and salt. Use to dress lettuce or
other vegetable salads, or as a marinade for grilling or broiling meat. Makes
1¼ cups. Serve with grilled marinated flank steak and new potatoes.
Mustard
vinaigrette:
Add 1 to 2 teaspoons European-style mustard (
